Paws of Hope Colorado September 2026 Update New Milestones and October Drive
A mission grows one act of care at a time. A bag of dog food. A shared adoption post. A blanket dropped off for a shelter kennel. A volunteer who gives a few hours. A supporter who tells a friend, “This group is doing good work.”
This September, Paws of Hope Colorado has several meaningful updates to share. These milestones reflect the care, trust, and encouragement our community has shown from the beginning. They also mark a stronger path forward as we continue supporting dogs, shelters, rescues, and foster networks across Colorado.
From official nonprofit status to our October Food & Supply Drive, our online store, and new volunteer needs, there is a lot happening. Most of all, there are more ways than ever to get involved.
Paws of Hope Colorado is now an official nonprofit organization
We are proud to announce that Paws of Hope Colorado is now an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, fully recognized and operating under tax-exempt status.
This is a major step for our mission. Becoming a recognized nonprofit allows us to build stronger relationships with supporters, community partners, shelters, and rescue groups. It also gives our organization a clearer structure for receiving donations, distributing supplies, and growing our programs in a responsible way.
For a dog in need, this kind of milestone can feel far removed from the daily reality of food, safety, medical care, transport, foster support, and adoption. But behind the scenes, official status matters. It helps create a foundation that can support more work over time.
It means we can keep building with purpose.
It means we can continue showing up for local shelters and rescues with greater consistency.
It means every donation, every event, and every new connection can become part of something lasting.

We are now GuideStar and Candid certified
As of September 21, 2026, Paws of Hope Colorado is also GuideStar/Candid certified.
This certification is another meaningful step for our organization. GuideStar and Candid are widely used resources for nonprofit information, and certification helps show that an organization is committed to transparency and responsible operations.
For supporters, this matters because trust matters.
When people give their time, supplies, money, or attention to a cause, they deserve to know that the organization takes its role seriously. Certification helps validate our commitment to ethical nonprofit work, clear communication, and accountability.
For shelters and rescues, this also helps. Rescue work depends on trust between people and organizations. When a group asks for supplies, offers support, or helps spread the word about adoptable dogs, credibility makes those connections stronger.
Our hope is simple. We want Paws of Hope Colorado to be known as a reliable, caring, and transparent nonprofit that does what it says it will do.
These two milestones, official 501(c)(3) recognition and GuideStar/Candid certification, strengthen our ability to serve dogs across Colorado.
Our October Food and Supply Drive supports local shelters and rescues
In October, we are hosting a Food & Supply Drive to help local shelters and rescues collect essential items they use every day.
Shelters and rescues go through supplies quickly. Food gets served at every meal. Towels and blankets get washed, worn, and replaced. Bowls need to be cleaned and used again. Cleaning supplies help keep spaces safer and more comfortable for animals and caregivers.
A single donated item may seem small, but these items add up fast. A few bags of food can help reduce the strain on a rescue. A stack of clean towels can support kennel care. A monetary donation can help fill the gaps when specific needs come up.

If you are planning to stop by, new and clean items are especially helpful. Sealed food and treats are easiest for shelters and rescues to sort and use safely. Clean blankets and towels can often be put to work quickly. Pre-Owned towels and blankets are accepted.
If you are not sure what to bring, think about the items dogs need every day: food, comfort, cleanliness, and care.
A bag of food can help keep a dog fed.
A blanket can help a nervous dog feel safer.
Cleaning supplies can help staff and volunteers care for kennels and shared spaces.
A bowl can become part of daily feeding for a dog waiting for a home.
Every item makes a difference because every item fills a real need.
You can still donate if you cannot attend the drive
Not everyone can make it to King Soopers on the scheduled dates. That is okay.
If you cannot attend the Food & Supply Drive, you can still donate supplies by contacting us at info@pawshopeco.com to schedule a drop-off or pickup.
This option helps supporters give when it works best for their schedule. It also helps us continue collecting supplies outside of event hours, which is useful because shelter and rescue needs do not only happen on event days.

We are looking for a volunteer social media manager
Paws of Hope Colorado is also looking for a dedicated volunteer to help manage and grow our social media presence.
This role matters because online visibility can help dogs get seen. A shared post can connect an adopter with the right dog. A simple update can remind someone to donate. A story can help people understand what shelters, rescues, and foster families need.
We are looking for someone who cares about the mission and can help us stay active, clear, and consistent online.

The store gives supporters another way to help fund our mission while picking up items that show support for Paws of Hope Colorado.

Proceeds from store purchases directly support our mission, including supply distribution, adoption promotion, and rescue assistance.
We will continue adding new items over time, so the store will grow as we grow. Each purchase helps us continue the work of supporting dogs and the people caring for them.
A quick note about how the store works: we do not resell donated items. Everything listed in our store was purchased specifically to help raise funds for our cause.
That distinction matters. Donated supplies are meant to support shelters, rescues, foster networks, and dogs in need. Store merchandise exists separately as a fundraising tool. This helps keep donations focused where they belong while still giving supporters another way to contribute.
